The Jharkhand Government created a system of e-Governance where they added multiple services, including applying for a Jharkhand birth certificate to an online platform. They did this through the e-District system, which is a web-enabled service portal that acts as an electronic gateway into the Government’s portfolio of services. It is an end-to-end integrated solution catering to the needs of various departments of Jharkhand state and providing multiple services to its citizens. It connects urban and rural areas to get through processes like applying for birth, death, income, residential, castes, etc. at common service centres (CSC) located at Panchayat Bhawans and other locations, also known as Pragya Kendras. People can access additional services like Revenue Courts, Electoral services, Consumer court services through external links and websites.
Depending on the jurisdiction and specific details, a record of birth might or might not contain verification of the event by someone like a midwife or doctor.
There are three main ways that an applicant can apply for a Jharkhand birth certificate:
If they are getting through the process online:
A citizen can apply for a service of his / her state through the internet with or without registration as per the service definition.
If they are getting through the process using a Kiosk
A citizen can contact Kiosk of his / her area for applying a service. They can check the details of the Kiosk under “Kiosk details” while clicking on the particular service.
If they are getting through the process in-person
A citizen can also apply for a service either by downloading application form online and submit it at the concerned office or can take the application form directly from the office.
Documents and details needed when getting through the process for a Jharkhand birth certificate
- Applicant Photograph (The photo is not a mandatory requirement)
- If birth is at the hospital, the applicant has to provide a hospital certificate or oath letter from the parents
- If the birth takes place at home, the applicant has to provide a ward councillor letter as well as an oath letter from parents.
When it comes to getting a Jharkhand birth certificate, there are various offices where the process can be handled. People have to visit the Pragya Kendra, Cantonment, Nagar Parishad Ramgarh, DC Office or Collectorate office depending on where they live. Applicants have to make sure their district is looked after by the specific authority before they get through the process. Additionally, people who do not want to handle the process online would also have to submit their documents and application forms to the same office.
