According to the Birth and Death Registration Act-1969, in the state of Karnataka, the birth and death online certificates are issued to the public through the Departments of Revenue, health and Urban local bodies in ‘E-Janma’ Online application from February 2015.
Applicants can download the application forms from their Karnataka local eJanma website. They can also use the same website if they are planning on uploading their application forms and supporting documents as well, as well as, filling out the forms offline, and submitting them to the respective office.
The Karnataka birth certificate website provides details of
● All births, deaths and stillbirths electronically registered in Rural Karnataka.
● The Births, Deaths and Still Births that occur in rural areas are registered by the eJanMa
by Village Accountants through Nada Kacheri at Hobli level.
● The Births, Deaths and Still Births occurred in the Sub Registration Units (Govt Medical
Institutions PHC/CHC) also registered in eJanMa and Certificates issued in the Institution itself.
● The Births, Deaths and Stillbirths that occurs in the urban local body area and BBMP area are also registered in e-JanMa by Health Officers and Health Inspectors in their respective area.
● The events that occurred in private hospitals will be reported by the concerned private hospital to the Registrar.
● For Inclusion of Name of Child in Birth Certificate, applicants have to contact their
respective Registrars and Sub registrars (Village Accountants and Medical Officers).
● Additional Copies of the Birth or Death Certificates and for any Corrections, they can
download the specific forms or contact Data Entry Operators of the concerned Nada
Kacheri and respective birth and death registration centres.
To apply for a Karnataka birth certificate, the procedure involved is to fill out the necessary application forms, gather the respective documents and prescribed fees to a Village Accountant. After verifying the documents and details, they can collect their certificates from the Village Accountant.
Documents to be enclosed with the request are:
● ID proof
● Address proof
● Birth details (Mothers and fathers name, place of birth and date of birth)
● Birth certificate from the medical officer for institutions birth
● Report from ANM, in case the birth took place at sub-centres and village hospitals
● Head fo the home, in the case of a home delivery
